Trunk shows were one of the first ways for brands to generate publicity about their brands. They can be helpful to get a real hands on experience with customers and help gain insight on what’s important to different shoppers in various locations. This can be valuable market information to have going forward in your next lines. They’re especially helpful for smaller brands that are less known because it helps them to gain exposure. They work best when the designer is present because it makes the experience more personable for the customer. Although they’re less prominent today, they can be important for luxury designers, especially in bridal. When a retailer has less money in their open to buy, they can use trunk shows to bring in more expensive product that they otherwise felt was too risky to buy. Trunk shows overall create excitement and foster relationships with customers.
